DU to observe National Mourning Day on Aug 15

DHAKA, Aug 3, 2017 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) authorities have taken various programmes to observe the National Mourning Day on August 15 in a befitting manner to mark the 42st martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The day’s programmes include: hoisting national flags half-mast and raising black flags atop all buildings and residential halls, procession towards Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 7:30 am to place wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, holding a discussion on Bangabandhu’s life and works at the Teachers-Students Center (TSC) auditorium at 10 am with Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair and organizing an art competition for children by the Faculty of Fine Arts, said a DU press release here today.

Besides, milad mahfils will be held at DU Masjidul Jamiya (central mosque of the university) and other mosques at halls and residential areas seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs of the carnage on August 15 in 1975, the release added.

According to the release, special prayers also will be held at places of worship on the campus belonging to other religions.
