I should give people feedback for their trust on me: Shanto

DHAKA, Dec 31, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh youngster Nazmul Hossain Shanto,
who was carefully nurtured to take the onus of the team in future, insisted
that he should give the feedback to the selectors and his family members for
trusting on his ability.

The team management kept their faith on him despite his repeated failure in
the national level and at the same time kept investing on him. He was also
getting continuous support from the management of Khulna Tigers, who kept him
as the integral part of their team in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh
Premier League (BBPL).

Shanto failed to live up to the expectation initially in opening position
but he seemed to have got his form if his performance in the last two matches
are taken into consideration.

Shanto however said that he is not putting any burden of expectation on his
shoulder as he feels failure and success is part and parcel in cricketer’s
life.

”It is good not to have any kind of expectation. I have my own
expectation and from family as well and therefore I think I should focus on
process rather than on expectation because if I do well all expectation will
be fulfilled,” Shanto said here today.

”I think everybody has belief in me –from selectors to media as well as
my family and this is positive for me because everybody stand by me in good
and bad times.

I do not think of any pressure or lack of experience. I think in cricket
one day you will play well and you will have bad days as well. Today I can
have good days and tomorrow I can have bad days, there is rule of cricket.
But I should give them the feedback for their continuous support and trust on
me.”

Shanto who is known for having a traditional approach in his batting,
added that he is not worried about his approach in the shortest format of the
game.

“I do not do anything differently in T20. In shorter format time is very
limited and thus you cannot bat by taking time. I have to start playing big
shot from the start and have to score in every ball and this is the only
difference,” he said.

“But I am not trying anything different in batting for the shorter
format,” he said adding that he is learning a lot through watching Rille
Rossouw in the dressing room.

“Rossouw is in very good touch and he is playing very well for the last two
or three years in BPL. I can learn a lot of things from him watching in
practice and he shares experience with me which is good for me,” he
concluded.
