Drugs worth Tk 2.61cr destroyed in Lalmonirhat

RANGPUR, Dec 30, 2019 (BSS) – Smuggled drugs and narcotics substances worth over Taka 2.61 crore were destroyed in a function held at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-15 battalion headquarters in Lalmonirhat district town today.

According to BGB sources, the destroyed drugs and narcotics substances were seized by the BGB members of different border outposts under the BGB-15 battalion from the frontier areas in Lalmonirhat district in recent times.

The destroyed drugs included 6,966 bottles foreign wine, 21,663 bottles phensidyl, 2,724 pieces of Yaba tablets and 1,527 ganja worth Taka two crore 61 lakh 68 thousand and 355. Rangpur Sector Commander of BGB Colonel Abu Zahid Siddique, psc, attended the function as the chief guest with Commanding Officer of Lalmonirhat 15 BGB battalion Lt Colonel SM Tauhidul Islam in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat Md. Abu Jafar, District Council Chairman Advocate Md. Motiar Rahman, Inspector of the Department of Narcotics Control Golam Rabbani and Residential Medical Officer of Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital Dr. Hafizur Rahman, were present as special guests.
