DNCC, DSCC polls’ nomination paper submission ends tomorrow
DHAKA, Dec 30, 2019 (BSS) – The last date of submission of the nomination
papers for the polls of the Dhaka north and south city corporations will end
tomorrow.
The polls of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City
Corporation (DNCC) are slated to be held on January 30, 2020.
As per schedule of Election Commission (EC), the nomination paper scrutiny
will be held on January 2 and the deadline for candidature withdrawal is
January 9.
Voting at all centres of the two city corporations will be held with
electronic voting machines (EVMs).
A total of 11 candidates submitted their nomination papers for upcoming
polls including one for reserved women councilor post and 10 others for ward
councilor post in DNCC, said Abul Kashem, a returning officer of DNCC.
In DSCC, a total of five candidates submitted their nomination papers
where one for reserved women councilor post and the remaining for ward
councilor post, said DSCC Returning Officer Abdul Baten. A total of eight
candidates collected their nomination forms for mayoral post while 805
candidates for ward councilor post and 176 for reserved councilor in DNCC.
In DSCC, seven candidates collected nomination forms for the mayoral post
so far.
Besides, 1,029 nominee seekers collected nomination forms of ward
councilor post for vying the polls while 185 for reserved women councilor
post till now, returning office sources said.
