Illegal handsets, teleco equipment seized in Dhaka, Ctg, Cox’s Bazaar
DHAKA, Dec 30, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in joint drives seized huge illegal mobile handsets and telecommunication equipment worth nearly Taka 1.75 crore from different markets of Dhaka, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazaar.
The joint team conducted the drives in different times in December and seized around 500 illegal and counterfeit handsets, 20 smartwatchs and 2 tabs along with fake iphone batteries, chargers, headphone and telecom equipment, said a BTRC press release issued here today.
During the drives, a total of Taka 12 lakh was fined to concerned shops and persons.
Besides, three shops were sealed off while a trader was sentenced to one year imprisonment.
