AL distributes nomination forms for Dhaka city polls
DHAKA, Dec 25, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Awami League today started
distribution of nomination forms among the party’s aspirant mayoral
candidates for the polls to the Dhaka North and South City Corporations.
Incumbent Mayor M Atiqul Islam collected nomination form for Dhaka North
City Corporation (DNCC) while lawmakers – Fazle Nur Tapash and Haji Selim
bought nomination papers for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Apart from them, President of Bangabandhu Academy Md Nazmul Babul
collected a form for DSCC while Former Secretary General of Muktijoddha
Sangsad Central Command Council M A Rashid and Joint General Secretary of
Bangabandhu Foundation Shahidullah Osmani collected nomination forms for DNCC
mayoral candidature.
The representatives of them collected the nomination papers from AL
President’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi.
The forms distribution will be continued till 5pm on December 27.
The polls of DSCC and DNCC will be held on January 30 next.
As per the schedule, the last date for nomination paper submission is
December 31, nomination paper scrutiny will be held on January 2 and the
deadline for candidature withdrawal is January 9.
Voting at all centres of the two city corporations will be held with
electronic voting machines (EVMs).
