Ex-chief justice Mahmudul Amin Choudhury passes away

DHAKA, Dec 22, 2019 (BSS) -Former Chief Justice of Bangladesh Mahmudul Amin Choudhury died of old-age complications at his Dhanmondi residence here this afternoon.

He was 85, family sources said.

Justice Choudhury is survived by two daughters, a son and a host of relatives and admirers.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held on Supreme Court premises at 10.30 am tomorrow in the city.

Later, his body will be taken to Sylhet to allow the people of all walks of life to pay their last tributes to him where 2nd namaz-e-janaza will also be held after Esha prayers.

Later, he will be laid to eternal rest at the graveyard near the Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) shrine.

Justice Choudhury was appointed as the chief justice on March 1 in 2001 and retired from his post on June 17 in 2002.

Justice Choudhury was involved in law profession since 1963.

He got enormous success in field of sports in his student life.

Justice Choudhury was an expert shooter and one of the founding members of Sylhet Rifles Club.
