BR east zone launched repair-renovation works on its track

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 22, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh Railway (BR), eastern zone
authority has launched a repair and renovation works on railway track to
avoid unwanted incidents.

The distempered slippers and fittings of 52 railway bridges have already
been changed and newly replaced 65,000 clips (ERC) on Sylhet-Kulaura-Akaura
route.

There are 250 small and big size bridges in 178 kilometers long Sylhet-
Akaura route, and these bridges were built 60 to 70 years ago, Mohammad
Sabuktagin, Chief Engineer of eastern zone railway told BSS.

A total of, six pairs of intercity and eight DEMO trains are being
operated on the rout every day, he said.

Out of 52 bridges, the slippers and fittings of 17 has already repaired
and replaced. Beside the maintenance of 125.50 kilometers line done by
mechanized way and the remaining 11.10 kilometers done by shallow screening,
he added.

On the other hand new 65,000 clips were fitted in the slippers.

To avoid the stealing, welding of clips, p-way fittings changed and one
lakh Cft Blast spreading has already done.

Sabuktagin said that now Sylhet-Akhaura route is risk free track and
kept free from stealing due to welding of clips.
