Auspicious start for Bashundhara Kings in Fed Cup Football

DHAKA, Dec 19, 2019 (BSS)-Powerhouse Bashundhara Kings notched a hard-fought solitary goal victory over Brothers Union Club in the opening group B match of the Federation Cup Football held on Thursday at Bangabandhu National Stadium.

With this victory the Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings have brighten their chance to qualify for the quarterfinal berth. They will now play their last group match against giant Chattogram Abahani Limited scheduled to be held on December 26 at the same venue.

In the day’s match, Mohammad Douh scored the decisive goal for the winning side in the 23rd minute of the match.

Bashundhara Kings dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory while Brothers Union Club were totally off-colored on the day and they hardly failed to produce any real move in the match.

Earlier, in the day’s first match, Saif Sporting Club were forced to play a goalless draw by Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society in the opening group C match held at the same venue.

In the proceeding both the teams got several scoring chances but failed to convert any of those into a goal.

Friday’s matches: Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra Limited vs Uttar Baridhara Club (3.30 pm) and Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra vs Mohammedan Sorting Club Limited (6.30 pm).
