Politics does not mean trading: Quader

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said politics should not be trade-oriented to earn money for own rather politicians should work for the welfare of the country and its people with honesty and devotion.

“One must have sacrifice in politics . . . politics should not be performed to earn money for own,” he said this while addressing an extended meeting of Dhaka City South AL at the party’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue here.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, urged the party leaders and workers to do politics to establish the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The government, he said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking ahead the country to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu.

The AL general secretary urged Dhaka City South AL to bring devoted, honest and able workers in the party leaderships.

“Workers are the heart of Awami League. We should keep in mind that the workers should not get hurt by our behaviors,” he added.

He urged the party men to take preparation for the city corporation election. “We will have to conduct mass-contact at thana and ward levels to highlight the development activities and achievements of the government,” he added.

Chaired by Dhaka City South AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, the function was addressed by AL Organizing Secretary and Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Humayun Kabir, among others.
