BCB remains mum on Santokie ‘no-ball’ issue

DHAKA, Dec 13, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) kept silence over the ‘no-ball’ issue of Sylhet Thunder bowler Krishmar Santokie, saying that they are not in a position to make comment on this issue right at this moment.

Santokie’s big ‘no-ball’ against Chattogram Challengers during the opening day of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) created a buzz in social media. And later Sylhet’s team director Tanjil Chowdhury, also a BCB director, said he smelled something fishy in his ‘no-ball’.

Before the ‘no-ball’, Santokie, a West Indian bowler, also delivered a big wide delivery.

Talking to the reporters Tanjil also said that he requested the BCB to look into the matter.

However despite Tanjil’s doubt, Sylhet Thunder included Santokie in the second game against Rajshahi Royals today and he bowled just one over to give away 15 runs.

”It is an individual case and we cannot just sit with an individual case,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said here today.

”We are totally focused to complete the tournament without any corruption. As this is a sensitive case I cannot make any comment without knowing the detail,” he added.

BCB appointed seven board directors to be involved with respective teams that are sponsored by different business house for the special edition of BBPL, which is dedicated to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“The no-ball that he bowled is suspicious,” Tanjil earlier said.

”He [Santokie] is not yet called by the BCB but I have lodged my complaint. I verbally requested CEO and Morshed [BCB anti-corruption head] to investigate the matter [no ball],” he said.

Jivani Footwear Company is the sponsor of Sylhet Thunder team whose media officials said that their owner Mohiuddin Moyeen is not ready to make any official comment in this regard.
