Practicing development journalism stressed

CUMILLA, Dec 10, 2019 (BSS)-Speakers at a function here today underscored the need for flourishing development journalism to showcase the country’s development and progress before the nation.

Speaking as the chief guest in the discussion, Comilla University (CU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Emran Kabir Chowdhury said journalism is a profession anyone who posses this profession becomes journalist.

Comilla University Journalist Association (COUJA) organized the discussion on the CU premises on the occasion of its sixth founding anniversary.

“People’s welfare and strengthening democracy should be prioritized in everything … we have to put emphasis on development journalism. We should practice positive journalism,” said Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad.

The discussion was addressed, among others, by Jatiya Press Club President Saiful Alam.

COUJA General Secretary Tanvir Shakib conducted the programme with its President Jahidul Islam in the chair.

Marking the day, a procession was brought out from the administrative building which paraded different streets of the campus.

Following the discussion, crests and certificates were distributed to ten contestants in a photography competition.
