Bangladesh blow Bhutan away in SA Games Cricket

POKHARA, Dec 6, 2019 (BSS)- After the Maldives, Bangladesh U-23 cricket
team registered an overwhelming 10 wickets victory over Bhutan in the ongoing
South Asian Games Cricket held at Tribhuvan University ground in Kirtipur.

Opted to bat first after winning the toss, Bhutan were restricted at a
paltry total of 69 from their allotted 20 overs in the face of tight bowling
attacks by Bangladesh bowlers.

In the event, only four batsmen– Wangchuk Jr (15), Singye (13) Dorji (12)
and Tobgay (10 n.o)– able to reach the double figure.

Manik Khan took two Bhutan’s wickets conceding only nine runs.

In reply, the two Bangladesh openers– Soumya Sarkar and Mohammad Naim–
took Bangladesh at home at ease in just 6.5 overs making 74 runs.

Soumya blasted 28-ball off 50 runs with five boundaries and three over
boundaries while Naim supported him with 13-ball off 16 with the help of one
six.

Soumya Sarkar of Bangladesh was named the player of the match for his
impressive batting performance.

Bangladesh will play their third match against host Nepal on December 7
and will meet Sri Lanka on December 8.

The top two teams will play the final salted for December 10.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a flying start as they crushed the Maldives by
109 runs in their opening appearance of the games.
