No Shakib, Mushfiqur as six Bangladeshi players in IPL auction

DHAKA, Dec 4, 2019 (BSS)-A total of six Bangladeshi players have put up
their name in the auction for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), the
most glamorous and competitive domestic T20 tournament in the world.

Players registration for IPL closed on November 30 with 971 players (713
Indian and 258 overseas players) signing up to be a part of the IPL 2020
Player Auction is set to take place in Kolkata on December 19.

Amongst the 971 players, 215 capped players, 754 uncapped and 2 players
from Associate Nations. The franchisees would pick up only 73 players from
those 971. From Bangladesh Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mustafizur Rahman,
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed and Soumya Sarkar have put up their name in
the auction.

Shakib Al Hasan, the regular player from Bangladesh in IPL, won’t be
eligible for play this year as he has been serving a two-year ban, with one
year of that suspended, imposed by ICC due to his failure to report corrupt
approaches from the bookies.

The surprising omission from the list is Mushfiqur Rahim as he decided not
to put up his name in the auction.

Meanwhile, the IPL franchises are busy trying to zero in on the players
they would want to go after on December 19.

The franchisees however would just pick up the players to plug their
loopholes.
