Nutritious meals for school children stressed

KHULNA, Nov 28, 2019 (BSS) – Experts at a meeting here yesterday
stressed for providing nutritious meals among school children to reduce
the dropout rate.

They made the remark while addressing a view exchange meeting on
“National School Meals Policy -2019” held at a hotel in the city.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended
the programme as chief guest.

Gono Shakkhorota Ovijan and Ashrayon Foundation, volunteer
organizations, jointly organised the meeting co-operation with World Food
Programme (WFP).

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Helal Hossain, the function was
addressed, among others, by Divisional Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Anwar
Hossain Hawlader, Divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education
Directorates Begum Meherun Nesa.

Khulna district primary education officer ASM Sirajuddoha presented the
keynote paper about National School Meal policy while manager of Mass
Literacy Drive Dr. Mostafizur Rahman described the reality and necessary for
this policy.

Speakers said distribution of nutritious meals for school children will not only
improve the children’s physical growth but also increase their performance at schools.

Mayor of KCC Talukder Abdul Khaleque said, “Today’s children are
tomorrow’s future. We should give them healthy food and improved nutrition
for better physical growth.”

In order to build a prosperous nation the government gives importance on
fulfilling the nutritional needs of children.
