LAKSHMIPUR, Nov 26, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced four people
to death for killing a woman in Laxmipur Sadar upazila in 2016.
District and Sessions Judge Md. Shahenur delivered the verdict.
The convicts are Sharmin Akhter, 27, Jashim Uddin, 30, Jamal Hossain, 28,
and Nazim Uddin, 30.
All convicted persons are absconding, said Public Prosecutor Jashim Uddin.
According to the case statement, Zakia Begum, inhabitant of Dharmapur
village under Sadar upazila, was strangled to death by the convicted persons
on July 14, 2016. They (convicts) killed Zakia as Sharmin Akhtar developed an
extra-marital affair with Jamal.
Following the incident, Zakia’s younger son Khorshed Alam filed a case
with Lakshmipur Sadar Model police station in this connection.
After examining witnesses and evidences, the judge delivered the judgment.
