Sadhan warns against farmers’ harassment

NAOGAON, Nov 23, 2019 (BSS) – Sounding a note of warning against any harassment of farmers, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said administrative actions would be taken against those warehouse officer-in charge (OCLSD) involved with troubling farmers during paddy procurement.

“The government has taken tough stance against corruption. So, all government officials and employees should refrain from indulging in corruption” he said.

The minister said the government will not tolerate any harassment of farmers.

He said this while inaugurating the programme to distribute seeds and fertilizers among marginal farmers free of cost at Sapahar upazila in the district.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kalyan Chowdhury presided over the function while Sapahar upazila Chairman Shahjahan Hossain, former upazila chairman Shamsul Alam Shah Chowdhury, Assistant Commissioner (land) Sohrab Hossain, Agriculture Officer Mujibur Rahman and freedom fighter Omar Ali, among others, addressed it.

A total of 1460 farmers received seeds and fertilizers on the occasion.

Besides, different allowances were given to 97 disabled people, 190 Dalit and Horijon people and voluntary social welfare agencies.
