DHAKA, Nov 22, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said BNP has now taken the course of spreading rumors after failing to wage movement and win election as well.

“BNP wanted to make political issues capitalizing on quota movement, transport strike and onion price hike, but they failed in their attempts. Now they are spreading rumors,” he said.

He was addressing a joint meeting marking triennial councils of Dhaka City South and North units of AL at the central office of the party at Bangabandhu Avenue here.

Quader said BNP is now facing the dearth of proper leadership due to its indulgence in negative politics.

“BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir often resorts to lofty talks but his party is devoid of discipline and trust. BNP leaders are engaged in internal wrangling criticizing each other,” he added.

About the councils of Dhaka City South and North units of AL, he said controversial persons will have no room in the party as competent workers with sacrificing track record will be made leaders.

He urged the leaders and workers of the organizational units to refrain from criticizing each other in their race for getting leadership in the party units.

AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, central leader Advocate Qamrul Islam and Dhaka City North AL General Secretary Sadeq Khan addressed the meeting, among others.

Dhaka City South AL President Abul Hasnat presided over the meeting while its General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad moderated it.
