Armed Forces Day celebrated in Rangpur cantonment

RANGPUR, Nov 21, 2019 (BSS) – The Armed Forces Day-2019 was celebrated
today marking the 48th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Armed Forces
comprising of Army, Navy and Air Force at Rangpur cantonment this afternoon.

Under management of Rangpur Area of Bangladesh Army, programs were taken
to celebrate the day befittingly paying profound respect to the memories of
the martyrs, who made supreme sacrifices during the War of Liberation, said a
press release.

Freedom fighters, Members of Parliament, public representatives, noted
personalities, high ranking officials of the Army, Navy and Air Force and
civil administrations, professionals, teachers, students and journalists
attended the function.

Divisional Commissioner KM Tariqul Islam, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar
Rahman Mostafa, District Council Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom and Deputy
Commissioners of all eight districts in Rangpur division were present.

Welcoming invited guests, General Officer Commanding (GOC) and Rangpur
Area Commander of Bangladesh Army Major General Md Nazrul Islam with due
respect remembered Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On behalf of Bangladesh Armed Forces, he paid deep respect to Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyred of the War of
Liberation and sought divine blessing for eternal peace of their departed
souls.

“The Bangladesh Armed Forces came into being and launched all-out
attacks unitedly on the Pakistani occupation forces on November 21 adding a
new dynamism and further momentum to the War of Liberation in 1971,” he said.

He said the combined attacks of the heroic Armed Forces on the day
accelerated the process of achieving independence and finally snatching away
freedom of Bangladesh on December 16, 1971.

“So why, November 21 is a specially importance day in the history of the
Great War of Liberation of the country,” he added.

He expressed deep gratitude to the freedom fighters, invited guests and
members of the Armed Forces of all ranks and thanked them for their presence
in the celebration function.

Later, Major General Md Nazrul Islam with high ranking officials of the
Army, Navy and Air Force honoured the gallantry award winner and war wounded
freedom fighters or their relatives for their unparallel continuations to the
War of Liberation.
