‘Daak Taka’ to make postal service more digital: Jabbar

DHAKA, Nov 16, 2019 (BSS)- The initiative of “Daak Taka”, a digital wallet service of postal department, will make the traditional postal service system of the country more digital by transforming the money into digital taka, said Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.

The minister was addressing a programme at the auditorium of the Directorate of Posts as the chief guest on the occasion of ‘Daak Taka’ related training in the city today.

“The government is committed to doing everything possible to make the traditional postal service digital nationwide through using the vast network of the Directorate of Posts.” he said.

As part of it, “Daak Taka” is a very pragmatic step as it will help reduce the gap of digital transformation of money, he added.

Currently, around 1140 crore Taka is being transacted through mobile banking without using cash taka now-a-days in the country, he said, adding that such “Mobile Financing of Bangladesh” is a unique example in front of the world.

About building a knowledge-based digital society, he said the proper utilization of the vast network of postal department and its huge employees is needed to this end.

He hoped that with the help of 5G and quantum computing services, the country will experience a revolutionary change in the days to come.

Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Ashok Kumar Biswas presided over the programme.

The programme was addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Post Office Director General Shudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra and e-Commerce President Shomi Kaiser.
