Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Center Bill passes in parliament

SANGSAD BHABAN, Nov 14,  2019 (BSS) –Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Center Bill, 2019 was passed today in the Jatiya Sangsad in an amended form with a view to operate the concerned Industrial Technical Assistance Center in a sustainable way.

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun moved the bill in the House which was unanimously passed by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the Chair.

Placing the bill, the Industries Minister said when the proposed bill will be effective as a law, it will suspend the previous by-law enacted under a resolution in 1962.

The proposed law will help operate an organization like BITAC which would help increase the industrial products through innovation, manufacturing parts and repairing after research, according to the bill, adding that the center will also create skilled manpower providing technical training.

Earlier, on September 11, the bill was placed in the House and then sent to the concerned parliamentary standing committee which placed its report with some amendments.

Opposition lawmakers Pir Fazlur Rahman, Mujibul Haq, Rowshan Ara Mannan, BNP lawmakers Rumeen Farhana, Harunur Rashid and Mosharof Hosen discussed on the bill.
