Politics is for welfare of human beings: Hasan
CHATTOGRAM, Nov 13, 2019 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said politics is not a profession rather it is a passion for working for the welfare of human beings.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a mourning discussion on local AL leaders, including former general secretary of Shilok Union AL Abu Taher Member, under Rangunia upazila here.
Shilok Union AL President Nur Nabi Showdagar presided over the meeting at Shilok Multilateral High school ground while acting union AL General Secretary Anwar Ahmed Master moderated it.
Hasan, also AL publicity and publication secretary, said some AL leaders have become lazy as Awami League (AL) is in state power for three consecutive terms, thinking that the future would be the same.
But they should remember that AL remained out of power for about 21 years after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he added.
Noting that in those dark days many people thought that AL would never return to power, the minister said, “But AL came to power by busting their complacence”.
The minister said, however, the country is advancing rapidly under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Upazila AL advisor Sadakun Nur Sikder, Rangunia upazila AL secretary Shamsul Alam Talukdar, AL Rangunia Municipality President Master Aslam Khan, upazila AL Cultural Affairs’ Secretary Swajan Kumar Talukdar, Religious Affairs’ Secretary and Rangunia Municipality Mayor Shahjahan Siqdar, AL leaders Mohammad Ali Shah, Nazrul Islam Talukdar, MA Mannan Chowdhury, among others, addressed the meeting.
