Momen urges US to send back Bangabandhu’s killer Rahsed Chowdhury

DHAKA, Nov 5, 2019 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today urged the USA government to send back Rahsed Chowdhury, a fugitive killer of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is now staying in the USA under political asylum.

“I told her (visiting US acting assistant secretary) that we wanted killer Rashed Chowdhury back”, he told newsmen after a meeting with the visiting USA’s acting assistant secretary for south and central Asian affairs Alice Wells at foreign ministry this evening.

Momen said Bangladesh wants to bring back all fugitive self-confessed Bangabandhu’s killers to establish the rule of law and good governance.

“I told her we want to ensure rule of law and good governance here as like what you want to in your country… but there is a problem that a fugitive killer is living in your country,” he said.

In reply, Momen said Alice requested to send trial documents of Rashed Chowdhury to the USA so that her government can examine the Bangladesh government’s demand of getting back Rashed Chowdhury.

Bangladesh government made global appeals in bilateral regional and

international forums to send back Bangabandhu’s six fugitive killers, of them Rashed Chwowdhury has been traced living in USA while Noor Chowdhury in Canada.
