President returns home
DHAKA, Oct 27, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid returned home tonight wrapping up his eight-day official visit to Japan and Singapore.
“A regular aircraft (flight no SQ 446) of Singapore Airlines Limited carrying the President and his entourage members landed at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport at about 11.30pm.”
President’s deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told BSS.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, dean of diplomatic corps, Japanese envoy to Bangladesh, chiefs of the three services, prime minister’s principal secretary, public safety division senior secretary of home ministry and Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore in Dhaka, among others, received him at the airport.
President Hamid left Changi International Airport, Singapore, for Dhaka at about 8:50 pm (local time) today after ending his two-day stop-over in Singapore.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Singapore Md Mustafizur Rahman saw the President off at Changi International Airport.
Earlier, the head of the state in his two-nation trip to Japan and Singapore, reached Singapore on Oct 25, after ending his six-day official visit to Japan.
On Oct 20, Abdul Hamid joined the enthronement ceremony of Japanese new emperor, who formally declared his ascension as Japan’s 126th monarch in front of about 2,000 leaders and representatives from 174 countries and regions at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
The 59-year-old Emperor Naruhito ascended the chrysanthemum throne on May 1, following the abdication of his 85-year-old father emperor Emeritus Akihito. As part of the occasion, the President attended the Palace Banquet hosted by Japanese new Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako the same day. He also attended the banquet hosted by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe next day.
Abdul Hamid left Dhaka for two-nation tour on October 20.
