One confesses involvement in Abrar killing

DHAKA, Oct 10, 2019 (BSS) – Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, one of the accused in
the case lodged over beating Bangladesh University of Engineering and
Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad to death at the wee hours of October 7,
today confessed his involvement in the gruesome murder.

Sokal, who was taken on a five-day remand along with nine others on
October 8, has given confessional statement this evening.

Investigation officer and detective branch inspector Md Wahiduzzaman
produced Sokal before the court and pleaded to record his statement under
Section 164.

Allowing the plea, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan
Chowdhury recorded Sokal’s confessional statement and sent him to jail
afterwards.

The same court on October 8 placed Mehedi Hasan Rasel, Muhtasim Fuad, Anik
Sarker, Ifti Mosharraf Sokal, Sefayetul Islam Jiyon, Ishtiaq Munna, Khandaker
Tabakkharul Islam Tanvir, Mozahidur Rahman, Muntamir Al Jemmy and Mehedi
Hasan Robin, on a five-day remand.

BUET students and the varsity authorities found Abrar, 22, in critical
condition in the first-floor stairs of Sher-e-Bangla Hall and rushed him to
nearby Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead
at around 6.30am.

Abrar’s father filed the case with Chawkbazar Police Station against 19
people.
