14-party supports govt. anti-corruption drive: Nasim

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League-led 14-party combine today extended its total support to the ongoing drive taken by Awami League-led government against illegal casinos, corruption and misdeeds in the capital and elsewhere in the country.

“The 14-party alliance hailed the ongoing crackdown against corrupt individuals and illegal casinos,” spokesman of the 14-party Alliance and ruling Awami League presidium member Mohammed Nasim told journalists after an informal meeting of the alliance leaders at his Dhanmondi residence this evening.

He said different political and other issues dominated the brief discussion of the 14-party leaders which was followed by a tea-party.

The alliance leaders, Nasim said, expressed their satisfaction over the ongoing drive being carried out by law enforcement agencies under the directive of Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.

He said the 14-party vowed to stay beside Sheikh Hasina, daughter of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to rout all corrupt practices to gear up the ongoing development of the country.

The meeting also discussed about the programmes to be taken in celebrating the “Mujib Year 2020-21” on the occasion of birth centenary of Bangabandhu, the greatest Bengali of thousand years.

Workers’ Party president Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod (Inu) president Hasanul Huq Inu, president of Bangladesher Jasod Sharif Nurul Ambia and executive president Mainuddin Khan Badal, Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, Jasod (Inu) general secretary Shirin Akhter, NAP ‘s acting general secretary Ismail Hossain, Gano Azadi League president SK Shikder, Ganotantri Party general secretary Dr Shahadot Hossain, Dhaka south city AL general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others, were present at the meeting.
