Air force units, squadrons receive ‘BAF Colors’

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2019 (BSS) – 11 Squadrons and three units of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) were awarded the prestigious ‘BAF Color’ award by the Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat today at the BAF Base Bir Sreshtho Matiur Rahman in Jashore.

Three units to receive the award were Flying Instructors’ School (FIS), Officers’ Training School (OTS) and BAF Care & Maintenance (Unit), Lalmonirhat , said a press release today.

The Squadrons and Units of BAF were awarded with BAF Color as recognition for their contribution to the implementation of Forces Goal-2030.

The Chief of Air Staff was cordially received at the BAF Base Bir Sreshto Matiur Rahman parade ground by Air vice Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam, the Air Officer Commanding of the ground, said the release.

The Air Chief witnessed the parade commanded by Group Captain Mohammed Mahfuz Uddin.

He also took part in a special prayer offered for the success of Bangladesh Air Force.

The Air Chief recalled the valiant contribution of the members of Bangladesh Air Force during the Liberation War, while delivering his speech.

He urged all ranks of Bangladesh Air Force to be more skilled and highly professionals, and hoped that BAF will continue its operational activities both in space and beyond in future.

He also mentioned that BAF will mark its contribution to the development of Aviation Sector of Bangladesh and thanked all members of these Squadrons and Units for achieving prestigious BAF Color.

He advised them to uphold the honor, dignity and pride of BAF Color through patriotism and professionalism.

Later, the Chief of Air Staff signed the Visitor’s book.

Principal Staff Officer of BAF and other members of Bangladesh Air Force were present on the occasion.

BAF has been performing various duties at national and international arena with great reputation and efficiency.

BAF Base Birsreshto Matiur Rahman has been a regular and important contributor to all these responsibilities.

The base has been ensuring air defence of entire northern, south and south-western sea area, providing necessary support to army, navy and other forces in those areas, as well as participating in disaster management and assisting the civil administration.

National Standard Award was handed over to BAF Base Bir Sreshto Matiur Rahman by the Hon’ble President of Bangladesh on 06 April 2016 for their versatile contribution.
