200 flood victims get cash from SKS Foundation in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Sept 16, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 200 flood-affected people of
Pardiara char under Kamarjani union of Sadar upazila were given cash of Taka
nine lakh from SKS Foundation, a local non-government organisation, on
Sunday.

With the financial support of European Union Civil Protection and
Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) and in cooperation with Oxfam, the cash money was
disbursed to the flood victims of the char under the programme of early
recovery efforts to meet the immediate basic need of monsoon flood-affected
people in the north-west areas of Bangladesh, SKS Foundation sources said.

A cash distribution function was also held on the premises of Pardiara
Madrasa of the union in the afternoon at the arrangement of SKS Foundation
and Kamarjani union parishad.

Oxfam Global Humanitarian Programme Manager Yasmine Adib Wahba, Oxfam
Humanitarian Programme Manager Atwar Rahman and head of office-ECHO Daniela
Pleuedurso and Programme Assistant-ECHO MukitBellha distributed the cash to
the beneficiaries as the guests.

Each of the beneficiaries received Taka 4,500 as grant from the
organisation to purchase the essential commodities to run their families
smoothly in post flood period, said Ashraful Alam, coordinator of SKS
Foundation.

Executive Chief of SKS Foundation Rasel Ahmed Liton, Programme Director
Saiful Alam and Chairman of Kamarjani Union Parishad Abdus Salam Zakir
including local elite were present on the occasion.

Rasel Ahmed Liton said some 3,000 flood victims of Sadar and Fulchhari
upazilas of the district would get cash from the organisation under the
programme very immediately.
