Govt committed to ensure safe immigration: Imran

HABIGANJ, Sept 13, 2019 (BSS) – Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad today said the government is pledge-bound to ensure safe, regular and responsible immigration.

“The government has taken many initiatives in this regard. People have started to reap the benefits of the initiatives,” he said, speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on “Strategic Consultation on Migration Management in Bangladesh” at the “Place Resort’ at Bahubal upazila in the district.

Imran urged all authorities concerned to work together to face the challenges of safe immigration.

He said the government is taking different training programmes to create skilled manpower. “Around 10 lakh worker were sent abroad in 2017. Around 4.70 lakh workers have already been sent abroad this year. The government wants to send skilled manpower,” he added.

Among others, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Rownok Jahan, Director General of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training Md Selim Reza and Additional Secretary of the Ministry Dr Ahmed Munirus Salehin addressed the discussion.
