Inter-College football tourney to be held this year: Russell
DHAKA, Sept 5, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP said the Youth and Sports Ministry would arrange the first ever Inter College Football tournament from this year.
He was speaking as the chief guest today in the Inter-upazila Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Football tournament (U-16) prize distribution ceremony at Shaheed Borkot Stadium in Gazipur.
He said the country’s football has golden time in the past and the Youth and Sports Ministry already has taken some steps in order to bring back the lost glory of football. The Ministry already arranged the ongoing Bangabandhu and Bangamata National Gold Cup U-17 tournaments.
He said the Prime Minister is a sports loving person and she always inspires for the development of football and all sports of the country. In this year’s budget Taka 20 crore was allocated under the patronization of Prime Minister for the development of country’s football.
In the meantime, Taka 100 crore was also approved for the renovation of Bangabandhu National Stadium, he added.
