JS body for paying jute mill workers’ arrears
DHAKA, Sept 5, 2019 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Labour and Employment today recommended payment of arrears of jute mill workers as per the new pay scale.
The parliamentary watchdog made the recommendation at its 4th meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here with the committee chairman Md Mujibul Haque in the chair, said a press release.
The JS body also suggested formulation of a work plan to eliminate the child labour by 2021.
The meeting formed a seven-member technical committee and an 11-member steering committee for conducting surveys, the release said.
Committee members State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, Shajahan Khan, Md Israfil Alam, Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury and Shamsun Nahar attended the meeting.
Labour and employment secretary, senior officials of the ministry and JS secretariat were, among others, present at the meeting.
