Nasim urges WB for creating pressure on Myanmar to take Rohingyas back

SWITZERLAND, May 22, 2018 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim today urged the international agencies, including World Bank, to create pressure on Myanmar so that they would take Rohingyas back to their homeland.

“Please create pressure on Myanmar so that they take Rohingyas back to their country from Bangladesh,” he said.

Nasim made the appeal at a meeting with WB Director on Health, Nutrition and Population Affairs Fadia Saadah at Palace of the Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given shelters to Rohingyas with her motherly affection, on humanitarian ground. We (the government) are providing them with accommodation, food and medical supports. But, It will not be possible to continue the support for a long run,” he said.

Secretary of Health Services Division M Serajul Huq Khan, former Adviser to the PM and Chairman of BMRC Dr Syed Modasser Ali were also present.
