GAZIPUR, Sept 1, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today urged the jail officials and employees to remain aware so that the imprisoned militants and top terrorists cannot carry out any anti-state and anti-social activity staying in the prison.

The minister made call while speaking at the closing ceremony of the foundation training and parade programme of the 56th batch of jailers at Kashimpur Central Jail here.

Asaduzzaman also urged the officials to prevent irregularities and corruption giving priority to discipline and humanity.

The government is working to develop the skills and physical strength of the jail officials and employees as jail is an important organ of the Criminal Justice System, he said.

Noting that the construction work of the Rajshahi Jail Training Center is on progress, the home minister said the government has initiated setting up a training center named ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Jail Training Academy’ at Keraniganj Jail in Dhaka.

Replying to a query of a journalist about Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) list, Asaduzzaman said, “We are not making any comment on any internal issue of another country and we also don’t want. If India wants to know anything then we will express our reactions”.

No Bangladeshi entered India after ’71, whoever had gone there it was before ’71. People had come here from India and people had gone to India as well, he said, adding that there is nothing to be worried about NRC list.

Security Services Division Secretary Md Shahiduzzaman, Inspector General of Prisons AKM Mostafa Kamal Pasha, Additional Inspector General of Prisons Abrar Hossain, Gazipur City Corporation Mayor Jahangir Alam, Deputy Commissioner SM Tariqul Islam and Superintendent of Police Shamsunnahar addressed the function as special guests.

A total of 319 jailers completed the fundamental course while three of them were awarded for their outstanding performance.
