BNP platform of defeated forces of Liberation War: Hasan

DHAKA, Aug 31, 2019 (BSS) – Terming BNP as a platform of the defeated
forces of the Liberation War, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said
the anti-Liberation forces killed Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman when the country was progressing under his leadership.

“BNP is the platform of the defeated forces of the Liberation War and who
didn’t vote for Awami League in 1970. The platform was created after
organizing the defeated forces politically,” he told a meeting in Naya Paltan
area in the capital today.

AL, Paltan Thana unit organized the gathering to mark the National
Mourning Day with its president Enamul Haque Abul in the chair.

AL labour affairs secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Dhaka City South unit
president Abul Hasnat and general secretary Shahe Alam Murad, also took part
in the discussion.

Terming the assassination of Bangabandhu along with most of his family
members as a stigmatized chapter of history, Dr Hasan said the conspirators
not only killed Bangabandhu, they tried to kill Bangladesh.

“Bangabandhu devoted himself to develop the nation on a war-footing after
returning home . . . But they (conspirators) killed Bangabandhu only three
and half years after independence. Bangladesh would become a developed nation
like Singapore and Malaysia within 10 to 15 years of the Liberation War if
Bangabandhu had survived,” Dr Hasan, also the publicity and publication
secretary of Awami League, said.

He said the country’s GDP was 7.4 percent when Bangabandhu was killed. The
country had exceeded that growth rate after 42 years of his demise under his
worthwhile daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, the minister
added. He said it is the demand of the time to unravel the masterminds behind
the carnage of August 15, 1975 as the future generation should know about
their sins.

The information minister said the culprits who were defeated politically
in 1971, killed Bangabandhu in 1975. Now the defeated forces are trying to
kill Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina again.

Dr Hasan urged all to remain alert against the conspirators and resist
them with an iron hand.
