Booters ready to take Afghan challenge

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh national football team’s head coach James Day said they are looking forward to take the challenge against strong Afghanistan as he is considering the match as a tough one.

“In the last fourteen months we have been playing good football … Afghanistan is a higher ranking team than us but we are looking forward for the challenge,” said the Bangladesh head coach at a pre departure press conference held on Friday at conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation.

Bangladesh will leave for Tajikistan capital of Dushanbe on Sunday (September 1) to play their away match against Afghanistan in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 joint qualification round-2 scheduled to be held on September 10 at Dushanbe.

During the ten days intensive training in Dushanbe the national team will also play two practice matches against FC Kuktosh and CSKA Pamir on September 3 and 5 respective at Hisar Stadium.

James said they need to play really well against Afghanistan boys know their job and they need to play as per their ability to snatch a good result.

The English born Bangladesh head coach said they had a good training season at BKSP and hoped his boys would able to play good football against Afghanistan.

Team’s key player Rabiul Hasan who was present at the press conference, said: “We had a good training for the match against Afghanistan …… we have high expectation and target .

“ I personally very hopeful with my team mates and we want to give a something good to the nation at any cost … as much as I can I will try my level best so that I can come back home with the head high doing something good.
