Muzaffar will be buried tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2019 (BSS) – President of Bangladesh National Awami Party-NAP Professor Muzaffar Ahmed will be buried tomorrow.

“After the forth namaz-e-janaza to be held at Cumilla Town Hall at 10.00 am tomorrow, his body will be taken to Allahabad village of Debidwar Upazila in cumilla district for burial,” NAP Presidium member Advocate Enamul Haque told BSS today.

His fifth and last namaz-e-janaza will be held after Johr prayers just before the burial at Allahabad. His first namaz-e-janaza was held at South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 11.00 am today.

Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Public Enterprises ASM Feroz, joint secretaries of AL Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif, MP and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, MP, president of Workers Party Rashed Khan Menon, MP, president of Communist Party Mujahidul Islam Selim, general secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Shirin Akhter, MP, party leaders and other dignitaries joined the namaj-e-zanaja.

Munajat was offered on the occasion seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Prof Muzaffar. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker DR Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, ministers, parliament members and leaders of different political parties joined it.

Later, Prime Minister and Speaker paid rich tribute to Prof Muzaffar Ahmed, also a member of the advisory council of the Mujibnagar government that led Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.

They paid the homage by placing wreaths to his coffin draped with the red-green national flag. After laying the wreaths, the premier stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Prof Muzaffar.

Earlier, Mozaffar’s body was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at 12.45 pm today where people of all strata and politicians paid rich tribute placing floral wreaths on his coffin.

Cabinet members and different political leaders and socio-cultural organizations paid glowing tributes to the veteran at that time. AL’s Organizing secretary and State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, its Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, MP, Information and Research Secretary Afzal Hossain and other leaders paid tributes on behalf of the Awami League.

Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President and former Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, JSD General Secretary Shirin Akter and their central leaders, Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary General Shahadat Hossain Salim also paid homage.

Leaders of Sector Commanders Forum and Bangladesh Communist Party and several cultural personalities were also present during the time.

Leaders of Hindu, Buddhist and Christian Unity Council, headed by Advocate Rana Das Gupta, paid homage to the coffin of left-leaning political leader Muzaffar Ahmed.
