Bangladesh lose to Korea in World Archery Youth Championship

DHAKA, Aug. 23, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh made exit from the junior recurve boys’ team event of the World Archery Youth Championships losing to archery powerhouse Korea by 6-0 in the quarterfinal event held on late night of Thursday in Spain.

Earlier, on the Thursday evening matches, Bangladesh archery team comprising Sakib Mollah, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Tamimul Islam moved into the quarterfinal beating India by 5-4 set point in the pre quarter final clash.

Promising archer Sakib Moll made his exit from the third round of the individual recurve junior men’s event losing to Jacquey Clement in tiebreakers.

Sakib led the way 5-1 set point lead till the third round but lost his nerves and the next two sets as the Frenchman bounced back to level the set points at 5-5. Sakib lost to Clement in the single-arrow deciding shot.

Meanwhile, Tamimul Islam and Hakim Ahmed Rubel were eliminated from the second round as they lost to Chen Zhao-Sheng of Chinese Taipei and Nescior Andrzej of Poland respectively in the same event.
