Number of dengue patients decreasing: DGHS

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2019 (BSS) – Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)
today said the number of dengue patients at hospitals across the country is
decreasing because of the steps taken by government and increased awareness
among people.

“A total of 1,615 new dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals
in the last 24 hours across the country, which is five percent less compared
to the No. of patients admitted the previous day,” Professor Dr Sanya
Tahmina, director of Disease Control and Line Director, Communicable Disease
Control (CDC), DGHS, told BSS.

The DGHS official said if this trend continues, the number of dengue
patients’ will decrease in the days to come.

Professor Dr Tahmina lauded the role played by the people related to
health sector, including doctors and nurses, she said, adding, “They are
serving their patients with utmost sincerity”.

A total of 6,733 patients are currently undergoing treatment at different
hospitals and clinics across the country. Among them, 3,419 are taking
treatment across Dhaka division while 3,314 are admitted outside the capital.
