DHAKA, May 16, 2018 (BSS)- The Election Working Group (EWG), a platform of polls observers, today said the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election was held peacefully on Tuesday amid some stray incidents.

The EWG made the preliminary statement on KCC polls at a press conference held at the auditorium of Jatiya Press Club here.

EWG Director Dr Md Abdul Alim read out the statement in the press conference.

EWG member Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullha was also present in the press conference.

He said there were some problems in the polls, but these did not have any impact on the election.

Alim said the overall situation of the polls was peaceful.

The average voter turnout in polling stations was 64.8 percent, he said, adding the EWG monitored 145 voting centers out of the total 289.
