U-15 football team leave for India

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2019 (BSS)- The Bangladesh U-15 football team will leave for India on Monday (Aug 19) to take part in the SAFF U-15 Championship scheduled to be held on August 21-31 in Kolkata.

Five of the South Asian countries will take part in the regional age-group championship.

The five participating teams – Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka – will play in round-robin format from where the top two teams will move to the final slated for August 31.

Last edition’s runners-up Pakistan and the Maldives are not taking part in the championship.

Defending champions Bangladesh will take on Bhutan in their opening match of the championship on August 23.

The two times champions Bangladesh, who beat Pakistan 3-2 in penalty shootout in the last edition’s final of held in Nepal, will square off their second match against Sri Lanka on August 25 before playing Nepal and host India on August 27 and 29 respectively.

All the matches of the championship will be held at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal.
