Eve handball team leaves for India Monday

DHAKA, Aug 17, 2019 (BSS)- An eighteen-member of Bangladesh women’s youth handball team including players and officials, leave for India on Monday (Aug-19) to take part in the 8th Asian Women’s Youth Handball Championship scheduled to be held in Jaipur, India from August 21-30.

A total of ten teams, split into two groups, will compete in the championship, organized by Asian Handball Federation and cooperation of Indian Handball Federation.

Bangladesh has been grouped A along with South Korea, Japan, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei while the group B consist with India, China, Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

Prior to the team departure a press conference was arranged on Saturday at the conference room of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) to inform the team’s preparation and expectation in the championship.

The BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Bangladesh youth team’s manager Nurul Haque Biswas, youth team’s trainer Touhidur Rahman and youth team skipper Alpona Akter were present in the press conference.

Bangladesh handball team: Alpona Akter (captain), Khadija Khatun ( vice captain), Mosammat Sanjida Akter, Sumaiya Banu, Mosammat Achiya Akter, Mosammat Ishrat Jahan, Fouzia Rahman Toru, Panna Akter Borsha, Suborno Akter Sorna, Smrity Akter, Naznin Nahar, Sharmin Akter Rupa, Baby Akter and Mosammat Misti Khatun.

Officials: Syeda Taslima Akter (team leader), Nurul Haque Biswas (team manager), Touhidur Rahman (trainer) and Nurul Islam (official).
