Five policemen sued on charge of raping
KHULNA, Aug 10, 2019 (BSS)- Five policemen including former officer-in-charge of Khulna GRP thana were sued for their alleged involvement in raping and torturing a woman in custody.
At the directives of the Khulna Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Khulna GRP thana recorded the case last night filed by the woman on August 4.
Sub-inspector of the thana Asim Das, who is now performing the duties of the officer-in-charge of the thana, confirmed.
The accused OC Osman Gani Pathan and on duty SI Nazmul Haque were withdrawn from the duty earlier at the directives of the court.
GRP thana police detained the woman on August 2 on her way from Benapole to Khulna by train on charge of stealing mobile phone.
The women later alleged that five policemen including the officer-in-charge tortured and raped her in the police custody in that night.
On the next day she was shown arrested with five bottles of phensidyle and produced her before the court.
But, the women filed a complaint before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Khulna about the atrocity in custody.
The court accepted the submission and asked for a medical test of the woman in the Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Based on the medical report, the court asked the Khulna GRP thana to receive the complaint of the women to start the legal procedure against the cops.
