Eid holidaymakers leaving capital in large number

DHAKA, Aug 09, 2019 (BSS) -The city dwellers are leaving the capital in large number to celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha with their near and dear ones as only two days are left for the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims.

Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on August 12. The capital’s Sadarghat lunch terminal, Sayedabad, Gabtoli and Mahakhali bus terminals and Kamalapur and Airport railway stations saw a huge crowd of home-goers as people are leaving the capital to enjoy the festival at their village homes.

A large number of government and private service-holders left the capital yesterday afternoon after completing their office works on the last working day.

Since the dawn today, the people are also leaving the capital in large number.

At Gabtoli bus terminals, home-bound people of Khulna and Barishal divisions were seen going home via Paturia launch terminal. They will cross the river by ferry or launch and then they will get on buses to reach their destinations from Doulatadia.

At Sadarghat launch terminal, people of 23 districts of the country make their journey by launch to reach home. From yesterday night, a huge number of people are leaving the capital Dhaka by launch.

Kamalapur and Airport railway stations also saw huge crowds of Eid holidaymakers since morning today.

The government has taken measures to make hassle-free Eid journey of the holidaymakers by road.

The homebound people of Chattogram division are not facing any traffic gridlock as the Meghna and Gumti bridges on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway were opened before the last Eid-ul-Fitr.

Law enforcement agencies have taken necessary measures to ensure a hassle-free and safe journey for home-goers. Security has been beefed up at launch and bus terminals and railway stations.
