Experts for preventive measures to reduce heart ailments

 RANGPUR, May 13, 2018 (BSS) – Health experts at a programme here today stressed the need for preventive measures, proper awareness and appropriate lifestyle as better ways to reduce the risks of heart ailments.

Cautioning that increased salt intake and uncontrolled high blood pressure are silent killers, they suggested for less salt intake and walking regularly to reduce the risks of heart attack and brain hemorrhage.

They made the observations today at the ceremony arranged for publication of the first ever medical journal ‘Rhythm’ of the Department of Cardiology of Prime Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) at its conference room in the city.

Head of the Department of Cardiology of PMCH Professor Dr Nawajesh Farid presided over the publication ceremony attended by expert physicians of different departments of the institution.

Professor Dr Nawajesh Farid with other expert physicians of PMCH and PMC formally published the journal ‘Rhythm’ by unveiling cover on the occasion.

Principal of Prime Medical College and Head of its Department of Medicine Professor Dr Nur Islam, its Vice-principal Professor Dr Syed Isbarul Bari, Head of its Department of Pediatrics of PMCH Professor Dr Nurul Absar, Head of its Department of Microbiology Professor Dr Parimal Chandra Sarker, addressed the occasion.

The experts laid special emphasis on keeping blood pressure within safe range by taking drugs, appropriate amount of nutritious food and conducting physical exercise to avoid heart attacks, brain stroke, kidney ailments and other diseases.

Professor Dr Nawajesh Farid urged all for abiding by suggestions of the cardiologists and leaving all bad habits like smoking and conducting regular check up of blood pressure and physical exercise to maintain sound health.
