ACC sues 7 ex-Customs officials, 17 importers for forgery

CHATTOGRAM, August 6, 2019 (BSS)-The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC),
Chattogram today filed 18 cases against 24 persons including seven retired
Customs’ officials and 16 importers on charges of forgery and deception,
Lutful Kabir Chondon, Deputy Director of ACC, Chattogram, told the press
today.

ACC Assistant Directors Golam Mowla, Afroza Haque Khan, Deputy Assistant
Director of ACC Shahidur Rahman filed the cases against the accused.

The Deputy Director said that the ACC in its first information reports
(FIRs), alleged that the accused colluded and deprived the government of
revenue worth TK two crore, 66 lakh, 29 thousand and 487 by clearing imported
goods using forged documents and false declaration from Chattogram port in
the early part of the current decade.

The accused are retired Chattogram Customs’ officials Shafiul Alam,
Humayun Kabir, Pranobondhu Bikash Paul, Mohammad Nizamul Haque, Syed Humayun
Akhter, Mohammad Shafiul Alam and Mohammad Saifur Rahman.

The alleged importers are Mohammad Kashif Forkan, Mohammad Harun Shah,
Mohammad Abul Hasnat Sohag, Mohammad Mominul Islam, Mirza Mohammad
Ashanuzzaman, M A Alim, and Mohammad Musa Bhuiyan, Moinul Alam Chowdhury
alias Saiful Chowdhury, Haji Forkan Ahmed, Nurul Alam, Mohammad Jahurul Alam,
Mohammad Rubel Ahmed, Mohammad Ainul Haque, Mohammad Shahidur Rahman,
Mohammad Saiful Islam, Fahad Abedin Shohan and Jyotirmoy Shaha.
