Bangladesh marching toward middle income country: officials

RANGPUR, May 10, 2018 (BSS) – Government officials at a discussion here have said Bangladesh is rapidly marching toward a middle income country following successful implementation of the Prime Minister’s ten special initiatives.

The District Information Office (DIO) organised the discussion on ‘Informing people about the government’s success, achievement, development plans, Prime Minister’s 10 special initiatives, involving people with uplift activities, preventing terrorism and militancy’ at Taraganj Upazila Parishad auditorium on Wednesday afternoon.

With noted educationist Professor Md Shah Alam in the chair, Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kobir attended the occasion as the chief guest and delivered keynote presentation.

Vice-chairman of Taraganj upazila Md Ataur Rahman, Additional Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Amina Khatun and Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ramita Islam, addressed as special guests.

In his presentation, Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kobir narrated the massive uplift programmes implemented by the present government during the past nine years in every sector of development.

He narrated the positive impacts of successful implementation of the Prime Minister’s ten special initiatives of ‘Ektee Bari, Ektee Khamar’ project, Asrayan Prokalpo, digital Bangladesh, education assistance, women empowerment, electricity for all, social safety, community clinic and mental health, investment development and environment protection programmes.

“Implementation of the Prime Minister’s ten special initiatives is quickly improving socioeconomic condition of the common people, education, health, agriculture, power supply and accelerating women empowerment and climate change adaptation,” he said.

Professor Alam discussed the massive developments completed across the country, including Taraganj upazila, by the present government during the past nine years improving socioeconomic condition of the common people.

“Bangladesh would become a middle income country by 2021,” he hoped and urged everyone to work sincerely for implementing the government’s uplift activities to attain the sustainable development goals on way to build a developed country by 2041.
