DU forms committee to resolve crisis over 7 affiliated colleges

DHAKA, July 24, 2019 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) today formed an 11-member committee to formulate recommendations to resolve the crisis regarding seven DU affiliated colleges.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Samad was made the convener of the committee, which was requested to provide recommendations within ten days.

The other members of the committee include deans of the faculties of arts, science and business of DU, DU teachers’ association president and principal of Dhaka, Eden and Kabi Nazrul colleges, assistant proctor Dr. Muhammad Mainul Karim, Vice-President (VP) and General Secretary (GS) of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU).

Agitating students have been protesting for the cancellation of the affiliation of seven colleges with DU locking the gates of DU administrative and academic buildings and boycotting classes and examinations from July 21. Their other demands include publication of all academic results within two months, bringing administrative and academic activities under automation, controlling external vehicles on DU campus and fixing rickshaw rent inside the university campus.
