DHAKA, July 24, 2019 (BSS) – Almost all educated youths of the country seek
government jobs, according to a new survey.

About 99 percent educated youths of the country seek government jobs and of
them, 57 percent is female and 42 percent male, the survey shows.

BRAC, the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGC) and BRAC
University jointly conducted the BRAC Youth Survey-2018. The findings of the
survey were revealed at a city hotel today.

State Minister for Sports and Youths ?Zahid Ahsan Rasel, Secretary in
Charge of the ministry Dr Md Jafar Uddin, BRAC acting executive director Asif
Saleh and BIGC executive director Imran Matin were, among others, present on
the occasion.

The survey says most of the rich and educated youths want to get standard
education and establish business, while the illiterate or semiliterate youths
coming from poor or lower-middle class families want to go abroad to earn
money aiming to contribute to their families as well as ensure a bright
future for their children.

Only one fifth of the youths believe that their education will help get a
job, the survey reads.

Rasel said the government has decided to establish youth research centres
in different parts of the country for their development.
