MoU for setting up of CETP at API Industrial Park
DHAKA, July 24, 2019 (BSS)- API Services Ltd, an associate company of Bangladesh Association of Pharma Industry (BAPI), and Ramky Enviro Services Private Limited inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for setting up a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at API Industrial Park located at Gazaria, Munshiganj.
Vice President of BAPI Abdul Muktadir and Executive Director of Ramky Group Bobby Kurein exchanged the MoU on behalf of their organizations on Tuesday at the BAPI office, said a press release.
Secretary General of BAPI SM Shafiuzzaman and other senior members of the association were present on the occasion.
The integrated modern CETP, one of the largest of its kind in the country, would help in effective discharge of all kinds of effluents generated during the bulk drug production by properly treating them according to international guidelines.
The CETP will be operational by fifteen months and the entire project will be completed within the next two years, and this CETP installation is fully financed by the plot owners.
The government-backed API Technology Park, spanning over an area of 200 acres, is being developed to help country’s pharma industry lower its import dependency and achieve self sufficiency in active pharmaceutical ingredients production.
A total of 41 industrial plots have been allocated to the BAPI members who are creating bulk drug production units in this API Park.
On this occasion, president of BAPI Nazmul Hassan MP said this state of the art CETP installation in the API industrial park will ensure environment friendly operations which are crucial for a highly regulated industry like pharma.
“With sufficient backward integration to API manufacturing, our pharma industry will achieve sustainable growth and become more competitive, eventually boosting country’s pharma export,” he added.
