Country free of communalism: Food Minister

NAOGAON, July 22, 2019 (BSS) – Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today
said there was no communalism in the country during the tenure of the present
government.

“Peoples of all faith, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians are living
in peace …Bangladesh is an unique example of communal harmony in the
world,” said the minister while addressing a rally organized while laying the
foundation stone of the Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center at Porsha
Upazila Sadar.

Chaired by Porsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Nazmul Hamid Reza, the
meeting was also addressed, among others, by Upazila Parishad Chairman
Principal Shah Monjur Morshed Chowdhury, Upazila Awami League President
Anwarul Islam, Upazila Awami League General Secretary Mofazzal Hossain,
Upazila Education Officer Safia Akhter Apu and District Awami League
Publicity Secretary Ranjit Sarker.

Speaking at the rally, the food minister said the country now had
progressed significantly under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina, adding that being jealous at the trend, a vested quarter was
continuously hatching conspiracy against the government and the Prime
Minister at home and abroad.

The Model Mosque and the Islamic Culture Center are being constructed at a
cost of Taka 12.65 crore under the supervision of the Religious Affairs’
Ministry and the Public Works Department.
